Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has named his team to face Canada on Tuesday, with Damian Willemse getting a start, a week after arriving in Japan.
South Africa top Pool B with three matches played, the last a convincing victory over Italy on Friday.
The quick turnaround time between fixtures has called for some wholesale changes, and there’s no less than 13 new faces in the starting XV named for Tuesday.
Erasmus rings the changes for final Pool B clash
One of those is the young Western Province utility back, who starts at fullback, with Warrick Gelant switching to the number 14 jersey, while S’bu Nkosi completes the back three.
There is also a new centre pairing, with Damian de Allende starting outside Francois Steyn, and also the same with the halfbacks, where Cobus Reinach – getting his first start in the World Cup – is in alongside Elton Jantjies.
Captain Siya Kolisi retains his starting berth, while Schalk Brits returns to his more natural position in the front row with Thomas du Toit and Vincent Koch.
